Do LOTS of grinding. I got 3 characters up to level 99 (and had one at level 93), and it made the final boss almost... easy. If you can, make sure you defeat the Reaper (via Armageddon, 99 malachites + 10 rubies!) and open up Monad (the magical place where all the creatures are level...
